Tea tree oil is extracted from the tea-tree leaves by steam distilling the leaves of tea tree, which is a native of Australia. Using oil to treat a problem caused by oil secretion may seem strange, but according to research, tea tree oil treats acne just as effectively as benzoyl peroxide and does not cause any side effects. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which makes it anti-septic as well. These properties in tea tree oil are because of terpenoids like eucalyptol, cineole and viri2.difloral etc. The ingredients present in the oil help in fading and lightening scars on the face. Pure tea tree oil is 100% natural and is great alternative to harsh chemicals on the skin. Some might find the oil to be irritating on the skin, so it is advised to do skin test before application. Take a cotton swab and apply it on the underarm and see if the skin there gets irritated. If the skin does not show any signs of burn, itch or redness, then you can use tea tree oil in full strength.
